A recent Edison Research Share of Ear study dug into how Americans engage with audio throughout the day. While mobile device listening dominated in urban and suburban areas, the study revealed a different story in rural communities: AM/FM radio continues to be an important medium for rural areas, matching the popularity of mobile device listening.

The takeaway: When planning outreach for projects in rural areas, don’t overlook local radio. It remains a trusted, high-reach medium — and it deserves a place on your core communications mix for engaging residents and stakeholders.
